A piece of heaven...

This morning we walked over to a farm across the street from our campground where you could buy a bag of veggie scraps for 25 cents to feed the animals setup in cages around the barn and country store.  Jon had fun teasing the donkey and doing a dental check at the same time (see picture below).  We then set off for the beach 3 miles from our campground and it was an incredible view.  The whole coastline was set in with fog and although the temperature was too cool for an actual swim, the kids enjoyed playing in the sand and running the empty shorelines.  We even saw seals just off the coast.

The afternoon drive was the most beautiful I have been on through Highway 101 and Scenic Route 1 passing endless vineyards and ranches full of history and lush vegetation (yes, my wording might be slightly influenced from my tour book).  Tonight we are camped at the Camperantia State Beach Park just south of Santa Barbara for our one-night off and we are literally a stone’s throw from the beach.  I can hear the waves now as I write and God couldn’t have placed us at a better spot.  The kids played for over an hour just running on the sand and splashing in the waves before supper and we enjoyed a family camp fire before bedtime.  A much needed renewal day for all...

Jon was teasing the poor donkey!

Avalynn decided she would rather eat the bread instead of giving it to the birds

Jon called out "the BIG one is coming!" and Emerson ran for higher ground
